Published: 27 May 2026
The A1(M) southbound will be fully closed overnight (8pm-6am) on each of these nights between junctions 48 and 46.
AND during the day, there will be lane closures in place on this section.
This work is weather-dependent. If work is not completed between 5-7 June overnight closures on the weekend of 19-21 June as well as daytime lane closures may take place.
From 8 June – early July: for the following four weeks, the A1(M) southbound will be closed every weeknight (Monday-Friday, 8pm-6am) between junctions 48 and 46.
Litter picking during these overnight closures will also take place to reduce the need for future closures for maintenance on this section.
Diversion routes
During closures, traffic will be diverted via the A168 and B1224.
