Roman Remains

The Village of Aldborough is located on the site of the Roman Town of Isurium Brigantum and dates back to the late first century. This was the principal town of the Brigantes, whose earlier tribal stronghold can be seen at Stanwick. The remains include parts of the Roman defences and two spectacular mosaic pavements. The on-site museum displays local Roman finds.
