The new play equipment is officially opened by the Mayor and Pupils of Boroughbridge Primary School

The Recreation Ground has had a real facelift this year. It was opened officially by a group of Boroughbridge Primary School pupils and Cllr Pauline Phillips, Mayor of Boroughbridge this week.

All of the play equipment and the improvements made have been funded at no expense to the local rate payers, using monies from a fund levied on the builders of new houses in the area. At one end the Rec now has an impressive new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) for ball games and older team game players to use, and for younger children at the bottom end of the area the equipment has been up-dated, renewed and made more interesting and accessible.

Pupils at Boroughbridge Primary School helped with the consultation about the type of equipment they would most like to have in the area and so a group of pupils was invited to officially open the play facilities with the Mayor now that they are all ready to use.

The sun shone, the birds sang and the pupils enjoyed the official opening (almost as much as the Mayor did!).

It is now a great play space, open for all to use and enjoy. Why not visit the Rec and give it a try.
