Deputy Mayor Newsletter: April 2025 | | | | | Welcome to the latest in a series of regular updates from the police, fire and crime team at the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. As the Mayor’s Deputy leading on these issues I wanted to share key information and news. As well as launching the Police, Fire and Crime plans for the next four years, I have also held 2 recent online public meetings with the police and fire services. Details of both of these are attached. In April, Mayor David Skaith and I also opened the fully refurbished Ripon Police and Fire station following over £900,000 of investment. Since launching the plans the Mayor and I have attended a Retail Crime Symposium with North Yorkshire Police, local businesses and industry experts. I have spoken to our public safety teams in Grassington and Settle to better understand this partnership working in these specialist roles that combine being a PCSO, NHS first responder and on-call fire fighter. I also attended the North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Panel last week. Questions included an update on violence against women and girls in rural areas and rural crime. The entire panel discussion can also be viewed here North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Panel - Thursday, 1 May, 2025 at 10.30am Please get in touch anytime – I hold regular surgery appointments for anyone who lives or works in York and North Yorkshire.
