An up-date on the Flooding issues at the bottom of New Row.

Published: 20 February 2024

The lead officer at North Yorkshire Highways has contacted the town council to confirm the following:

"Yorkshire Water attended the site recently and advised their nearby sewerage systems were operating correctly, we therefore contracted in a larger jetting wagon which has been able to clear some of the issues causing the flooding. Once the carrier drains had been jetted the team were able to send a camera to survey to the pipes, they discovered damaged gully connections within the system which will need to be replaced.  As a result of these findings the site is being added to the list for a future drainage schemes which will replace the damaged sections of the drainage systems."

No dates are yet received when the repairs to the damaged systems will be scheduled, however it is significant progress that the gullys have been cleared and examined .

Countless conversations have occurred prior to this action with both North Yorkshire and Yorkshire Water representatives.

Finally it has resulted in North Yorkshire Highways identifying the damage and the responsibility for repairs.

When there are more details of the timescales for these repairs we can share news and any further updates.
