A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency. 30.1.2024
Flood Alert in force: Lower River Ure.
Flooding is possible for: Low-lying land including agricultural land and local roads in the areas around Masham, Boroughbridge, Aldborough and Bishop Monkton.
Be prepared.
River levels are rising on the River Skell, River Ure, due to heavy rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Skell with low-lying land expected to be most affected, including agricultural land and local roads in the areas around Masham, Boroughbridge, Aldborough and Bishop Monkton. Flooding is possible on low-lying land including agricultural land and local roads in the areas around Masham, Boroughbridge, Aldborough and Bishop Monkton from 1:00am on Tuesday 30/01/2024. Further rainfall is forecast overnight. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 4:30am on Tuesday 30/01/2024, or as the situation changes.

* Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. 30 cm of fast-flowing water can move a car and 6 inches can knock an adult off their feet.
* Flood water is dangerous and may be polluted. Wash your hands thoroughly if you've been in contact with it.
