Minskip is a village in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside, just a short distance from the market town of Boroughbridge. With its traditional Yorkshire stone buildings and rural surroundings, while remaining within easy reach of local amenities.
Minskip has a long history, with the village recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was known as Minescip. Its history also reflects the development of rural life in Yorkshire, from farming and shared land to the roads that connected local communities. In 1765, road-builder John Metcalf, better known as Blind Jack of Knaresborough, built a turnpike road from Minskip towards Knaresborough, helping improve travel through the area.
The surrounding countryside provides plenty of opportunities for country walks, with quiet lanes, open fields and scenic routes nearby, including the River Ure. Minskip also benefits from a close-knit community, offering a friendly village atmosphere where people know their neighbours and a vibrant Village Hall. Combining rural charm, a sense of community and convenient access to nearby towns.
