Boroughbridge Bowls Club

Boroughbridge Bowls Club has been in existence for over 20 years with a membership
of approximately 50 players of varying standards and ability. During recent seasons
we have had many successes in the leagues we play in, coming top in the Galtres
League, top in The York Private Clubs League and also winning the Harrogate Ladies
League, in what has been our first year as competitors. We have recently become
affiliated to The Yorkshire County Women’s Bowling Association.
We offer a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us either as a member
or a visitor. We can provide equipment and tuition if required at no cost initially.
Whilst we are involved in League games, we enjoy a lot of Friendly matches with
other clubs in the district, at which we encourage our less experienced players
to join in and learn the basics of Match play. Following these matches we usually
have a social supper where everyone gets to know the visiting teams. We would
welcome more applicants to our club and look forward to enquiries from any interested
parties.
Our subscriptions are as follows:
- Firstly a joining fee of £10 which everyone must pay
- Subscriptions are (note there in £10 discount for state pensioners):
- Full membership £45
- Associate membership £30, for which one may use the facilities of the club except when the green is needed for internal or league matches
We hope soon to incorporate a Junior section to encourage youngsters to take
up the sport of bowls.
In addition to our activities throughout the season we have our Annual Presentation
Dinner which is held in early November, followed by our AGM late November. Before
the season starts we usually have a pre-season Buffer Supper mid April where everyone
gets together before the start of the Bowls Season.
