The North Yorkshire County Council's 4Youth Service operate a weekly Wednesday club from the 4Youth Mobile in Boroughbridge. We park
the mobile between 7 & 9pm either in Boroughbridge High School Car Park or
the Back Lane Car Park by the PBs. The mobile is available for all young people
who are of Secondary School age and up to 19.

Our curriculum is planned around the Every Child Matters 5 Key Outcomes - Be
Safe, Be Healthy, Enjoy and Achieve, Positive Contribution and Economic Well-being.
All of our work links in with these outcomes so that the young people who attend
grow into more rounded, confident indviduals.
As well as traditional youth work activities, we also focus on specific topics
including: drugs and alcohol, smoking cessation, sexual health and citizenship.
We also work with young people on issues affecting them related to living in a
rural setting - including employment and transport. Our partnership work with
Connexions, Targeted Youth Support, the PCT and North Yorkshire Police strengthen
our work and enables us to expand on what we are able to offer.
Some of the activities we have offered in recent weeks include a 3 week Dance
project, 12 hour Off Road Motor Cycle course and The Red Cross Babysitters course.
Last year we took 8 club members buggy driving and to learn how to do Archery.
We all had a fantastic time and got extremely wet and muddy!!
We also offer young people a chance to work towards an accredited award. The
courses that we offer at present include The Youth Achievement Award, Youth Arts
Award and the 4Youth Award. Our colleague at Boroughbridge High School runs all
levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Boroughbridge Youth Council operates through the 4Youth Service. The members
meet once a month to work on projects and issues affecting local young people.
So far the group have made a film for the local mobile cinema and are busy planning
an activity day for the summer holidays. They have booked and paid for a coach
to Flamingo Land and Culture Shock 2009 in Pickering (watch out for tickets).
Work has taken place on the mobile since January of last year and we are hoping
to move into our brand new youth club later this year. It will be on the site
of Boroughbridge High School and we will be running lunch time activities as well
as after school clubs. We cannot wait to get in and start work on a fun filled
activity program. We will need lots of new ideas so come along and tell us what
you want from the 4Youth Service and Boroughbridge Youth Centre.
