Planning
Planning applications in the Boroughbridge area are dealt with by the planning
department of Harrogate Borough Council. However, all applications in the Boroughbridge
Town Council area are passed by Harrogate to Boroughbridge Town Council for comment.
The Planning sub committee of the council meets twice a month to review applications.

The Boroughbridge Town Council only has authority to comment on plans in 4 categories:
- The Town Council has no objections
- The Town Council objects on the planning grounds as detailed in their response
to an application.
- The Town Council does not object or support the application but wishes to make
comments or seek safeguards as detailed in their response to an application.
- The Town Council supports the application.
Harrogate Borough Council has a comprehensive section on planning on their website
including, recent applications, downloadable application forms and planning FAQ’s,
for example:
How can I find out what planning applications there are in my area?
Look out for green notices. These are put up near sites where an application
has been submitted. A Weekly List of Applications Received is displayed in public libraries and can be viewed in Planning Enquiries.
The local press often publish extracts of the list and the Council publishes
a Planning Press Notice weekly.
