Horse Racing

Boroughbridge has a long racing tradition dating back to 1732 when horse racing was first held in the town. The races ceased in Boroughbridge in 1808 but Boroughbridge remains at the centre of Yorkshire racing which boasts nine courses offering both Flat and National Hunt codes.

Ripon racecourse is only 15 minutes from Boroughbridge and Catterick, Thirsk, Wetherby and York are all within 30 minutes of the town.
 
If that’s not enough, a little further a field Yorkshire has four more racecourses at Beverley, Doncaster,  Pontefract and Redcar
