Yore Vision is the regeneration partnership body for Boroughbridge and the Lower
Ure Valley. Our objectives are:
-
To provide the necessary framework, structure, and organisation to reinforce the role of Boroughbridge as a service centre for residents, businesses, and rural communities within the Lower Ure Valley.
-
To contribute, in the widest possible way, to improving the quality of life for the benefit of the whole community.
-
To work in partnership with like-minded bodies such as town and parish councils, community groups and individuals to deliver on a wide range of initiatives
Membership of Yore Vision is open to any resident of Boroughbridge and its surrounding
rural communities and to any others who are interested in furthering its work.
Yore Vision currently has a wide range of initiatives that it aims to progress
over the coming years and is keen to involve as many people in this work as possible,
particularly those with relevant knowledge or experience. Initially the bulk of
work will serve to reinforce the role of Boroughbridge as the main service centre
the area but the outcomes are designed to achieve benefits for all the communities
of the Lower Ure Valley.
Amongst the projects are:
-
Housing Pilot study that aims to deliver affordable housing provision for local residents in Boroughbridge
-
The creation of a Centre for Rural Enterprise with associated workshops, utilising the “Advance Power” site in Wetherby Road, Boroughbridge.
-
A visitor centre in Boroughbridge, possibly incorporating the Devil’s Arrows and Battle of Boroughbridge site, with supporting walks /riverside improvements linking local communities.
-
An Arts/Business Forum, based in Aldborough, which will provide a mixed use venue incorporating a performing arts space, meeting/break out space for small conferences, and development of the adjacent Roman site and Museum.
-
Refurbishment and improvement of St James Square and Town Centre public realm for the benefit of motorists and pedestrians.
-
Development of “The Water Rats” site in Mill Lane to provide additional facilities for the community, particularly the young and also retired members.
