For many years residents in the Boroughbridge locality have been talking about the lack of community facilities in our town. As our community increases year by year, now is the time for change and the time to turn talking into action. With your help we can make this happen.
Over the past few months, a small team, headed up by Peter Phillips and supported by Boroughbridge Town Council, have been busy in partnership with an architect, to put together a plan that could change all that talking into positive action.
Our proposal is to build a Community Facility Building to the rear of the car park close to the flood bank on Back Lane. The intention is the building will include a small sports hall, a community event room, kitchen area, public toilets, and a new home for the Town Council and Tourist Information Point, plus much more. The building will be in keeping with its surroundings. It will be as eco-friendly and energy efficient as we can possibly make it, and we do not intend to lose any car parking spaces.
We need your views to finalise our plans and to gauge the level of support there is for such an ambitious project.
Unlike in past well-meaning attempts with such a project, our team believe your views really do count.
You can share your views by answering the questions on our survey. Please add comments as you go. We would also appreciate any offers of help for fundraising ideas.
Kind Regards from the desk of
Cllr Peter Phillips
